Overview
GHK-Cu (Glycyl-L-Histidyl-L-Lysine copper complex) is a naturally occurring tripeptide-copper(II) chelate first isolated from human plasma. It is present endogenously in plasma, saliva, and urine, with declining plasma concentrations observed as a function of age. Mechanism of Action
GHK-Cu chelates cupric ions (Cu2+) and delivers them to copper-dependent enzymes including lysyl oxidase, critical for collagen cross-linking and extracellular matrix stabilisation. The complex activates decorin expression and modulates TGF-beta signalling. GHK-Cu has been shown in research settings to regulate over 4,000 human genes, upregulating tissue repair pathways and downregulating genes associated with inflammation and oxidative stress.
