Overview
GHK-Cu (Glycyl-L-Histidyl-L-Lysine copper complex) is a naturally occurring tripeptide-copper(II) chelate first isolated from human plasma. It is present endogenously in plasma, saliva, and urine, with declining plasma concentrations observed as a function of age. GHK-Cu is supplied in lyophilised form at a concentration of 50mg.
Scientific Overview
Research has extensively characterised GHK-Cu in the context of skin biology, wound healing, and extracellular matrix remodelling. Studies have demonstrated its capacity to upregulate collagen, elastin, fibronectin, and decorin synthesis in fibroblast cultures. Investigational work has also examined its antioxidant properties, anti-inflammatory gene expression modulation, and potential roles in neuroprotection and hair follicle biology.
Mechanism of Action
GHK-Cu chelates cupric ions (Cu2+) and delivers them to copper-dependent enzymes including lysyl oxidase, which is critical for collagen cross-linking and extracellular matrix stabilisation. The complex activates decorin expression and modulates TGF-beta signalling. GHK-Cu has been shown to regulate over 4,000 human genes in research settings, including upregulation of tissue repair genes and downregulation of genes associated with inflammatory and oxidative damage pathways.
Areas of Research
Third-Party Testing
Every batch of GHK-Cu supplied by Pure Recovery Labs is independently analysed by a third-party laboratory prior to release. Purity is confirmed via HPLC and mass spectrometry to a minimum of 99%. A certificate of analysis is accessible via QR code on each product and through the Quality page.
Research Use Only
GHK-Cu is supplied exclusively for in vitro and preclinical laboratory research. It is not intended for, and must not be used in, humans or animals. It is not a medicinal product, therapeutic agent, supplement, cosmetic, or food substance. All handling must comply with applicable institutional and regulatory requirements. Pure Recovery Labs makes no claims regarding therapeutic efficacy or safety in any biological system.
